Many people think it’s a given that if you embark on a career in the hospitality industry, you’ll have to go through many job changes and work for a variety of employers, in a host of locations, before you can finally settle into a place that feels right. But the Ritz-Carlton organization is known for being the exception to many of the “rules” of our business—and during a recent lunch that I had with the management team of the new Ritz-Carlton Luxury Hotel that opened this year in Charlotte’s Uptown section, I discovered, not surprisingly, that the organization bucks the trends when it comes to typical employee retention patterns in the hospitality industry, too.
